Metal Sulphides


Chemetall's product range comprises synthetic and natural metal sulfides and additive compounds.

Solid lubricants, metal sulfides in particular have proven to be the most versatile and effective functional additives to reduce wear and comfort problems e.g. in brake pads for cars. These products are used world-wide as stabilizers of friction coefficient and as comfort additives. The product group of patented tin sulfides has been specially developed for use in antimony-free friction linings.

Solid lubricants based on metal sulfides improve the friction coefficient, the wear and the load carrying capacity of greases, lubricating pastes, oils and bonded lubricants. Decisive improvements may especially be achieved under extreme stress conditions such as dry-running lubrication. Synthetic metal sulfides from Chemetall may not only replace molybdenum sulfide, but even outperform its properties in lubrication applications.

Chemetall supplies natural metal sulfides and complex chlorides as active fillers to the abrasive tool industry mainly for resin-bonded grinding and cutting wheels. These active filling materials improve the grinding process and grinding pattern considerably. Our abrasive additives are suitable for all forms of grinding and cutting, such as precision grinding, rough cutting, cold cutting, hot cutting.
