Systems Mechanic - Supply Engineering
Duties and Activities In the chemical industry, production lines or power plants often need a complex pipeline network. Systems mechanics from the supply engineering branch build this kind of pipings especially for supply and process engineering, but also for in-house plants. They cut pipes, sheet metal and profiles by hand or by means of machines, shape them and custom build those parts necessary that are not pre-fabricated such as specific branch pieces. They mostly work metal, partly plastics. The construction is done on site on systems and plants, installing the units by means of detachable and fixed connexions. They add the fittings, filters, pressure regulating valves and other control units. Furthermore, they also insulate the pipes and check the operability of the plants by weld inspections and leak tests and finally are involved in the start-up. Maintenance, repair and refurbishment of pipings are also assigned to their profile. System mechanics of the supply engineering branch do mainly work in the plant or pipeline construction, e.g. for the chemical industry, for companies offering supply and disposal systems, for energy production companies, for the food industry or air-conditioning technology and refrigeration. They operate in workshops or assembly halls as well as at various assembly sites and sometimes outside. Duration of Training The training takes 3 and a half years. Good school and practical performance may shorten the duration of training. Training Place Firm: Langelsheim, Innerstetal 2 Vocational school: Vocational school (BBS) Goslar/ Baßgeige, Bornhardtstraße 14 Parallel to the practical training at the training firm, the trainee will attend the vocational school. In addition to imparting theoretical and practical knowledge, English lessons will be offered. Prerequisites CSE with good results especially in maths and physics, as well as good technical understanding. | |
